Now Hank is finally finished and I started stripping Hector... judge yourself.

February 28th
Just fitted the new gas tank. All the silver panels will be painted black within the next to weeks. Choke lever mounted as well. Didnt manage to exchange the left front panel as that would mean to take off the crash bars. That would have taken too much time. Will hopefully get to that next weekend.

February 21st
Have to put the project on halt for a while. Somebody tumped my 650 over twice over the last two weeks inside a locked group garage. Both the bikes are damaged. The 650 is waiting now for a new choke lever, tank and left front panel. Next week I will move both of them to a new gararge. Not too happy about all of that...

Hah, I finally found a bike. 93 PD06 with round about 42000kms on the clock. After three unsuccessful attempts of buying a proper bike for stripping this time it finally worked. I rented a car and a trailer and went to Mannheim to pick it up. Stayed there for the night at the place of a honda-board member and went home the next day. While I was still on the road towards home I already received the first call of someone wanting to buy the panels and stuff... ;) Somehow word travels fast. I didn't even have time to post the parts for sale anywhere. Less work for me. Anyhow, when I bought Hector and checked him out the engine started on the first attempt. When I got home he wouldn't start anymore at all. Removed the battery and hooked it up for testing. Dead. Or better broken. New one is ordered. Side panels are already removed. Really wasn't any sense in putting them back on after removing the battery.
Will keep you posted.

Ok for about two month I tried buying a bike now. Still not successfull. Found a nice one online, rented a car, a trailor and everything. The day I was supposed to drive the 300kms down there it was a freezing -15°C. All water in the car frozen solid. No way to get down there. So I tried again a week later.... now the streets were frozen. So for now I called it off until the weather is better. In the meantime I started working my way through a couple of books. Really learning something there. Additionally I booked two adult learning courses for me. #1 how to work metals #2 how to maintain your bike. First one starts early february.
Other than that I bought a couple of things. Hand protectors, new handle bar, cable tree and a bunch of other small things. I will keep you updated in case something really worth telling happens.

About two month ago I discussed buying a dirt bike with a friend. I had the opportunity to ride a KTM 525 exc once and it was really great. But it wasn't what I wanted for myself. Since I neither have a car nor something to transport a dirt bike with I would need a bike I could ride for a couple hundred kms and still use it on tougher "road" conditions. Not quite easy to find. Luckily at that time someone offered a Wolf Alp for sale. Which is basically a stripped transalp... Obviously I didn't buy it, cause then we wouldn't be here right now. But it gave me an idea of what I wanted. So I continued looking, but something like that is hard to find. Then a member of the Honda-Board planted a bug in my head.... building one on my own and he would be walking me through it step by step. I never really forgot about that idea ... and now here we are. Planning is on and I am already trying to find some of the parts I will need for it.
